All About Me Final Draft

I've never been one to stay in one place, or stuck to one thing, and now the diversity of my life experiences is becoming the "X" factor I need to start my writing career: perspective.

At 21, I've changed many times in my life after a wide variety of experiences.

I spent the first 9 years of my education at a religious school that was extremely Irish Catholic and conservative.

I became a total stereotype of a white private schoolboy but going t

In high school, I slowly realized how completely shielded from the real world, while many of my peers had already experienced the realities of life in the underbelly of San Francisco.

I always had to hide my shock when my young classmates recounted tales of drugs, gangs, sex, and shootings.

I wasn't the only one from my private school to go here either. However, most of my former classmates kept to themselves and did not get involved in school.

Involving myself in sports, band, and clubs was how I made friends with many of the students that I otherwise had nothing in common with.

More elite schools encourage their students to specialize in only a few things, meaning that if I had gone somewhere else I wouldn't have been able to do as much there.

Coming to SJSU as a Business-Marketing major helped with the adjustment because I had already experienced so much in my life.

It also meant that I had gained enough wisdom to know when something wasn't working, and so in the middle of a pandemic I decided to switch from Marketing to a Journalism major.

One of the most valuable things I have learned in my life is take as much knowledge from your past experiences as possible and trying to apply them to your new goals in life.

Now I am trying to take the knowledge I learned as a Marketing major and apply it to a new sports media brand (called goatednbanews.com) trying to build a following for myself before I graduate college.

I am excited to learn more about writing and the media industry, as that is the beast I am trying to tame.

Only time will tell if it works out.
